Winner of the Free Copy of Creative Spaces Volume 3

Many Thanks to all who stopped by to visit and especially those who left a comment, so appreciated!!

As of midnight on Thursday I had 42 comments, so I used the random.org number generator to select a winner for the copy of the Creative Spaces Vol. 3

Congratulations to:

Paula, please send me an email with your mailing address, and I will get this into the mail asap!

So here is the current state of my craft room

Completely taken apart and in a rental again, so needing some more creative solutions :)

It is going to be fun challenge as it is much smaller and I will have to be very deliberate and organized about how things are arranged. Neither of those is my strong suit, so it will be an exciting puzzle to solve.

Going to be spending the best part of the day moving all the big furniture over and starting to put things away. Then lots and lots of cleaning...

Don't be jealous ;)

Creative Spaces Volume 3 Blog Hop and a Give Away for a Free Copy!

Thanks for popping over from the incredibly talented Jen Gallacher's blog, I am thrilled to have you stop by my new blog home!

I was given an extra copy of this special issue and would love to share it with one of the people who leaves a comment on this post. I will be randomly selecting a winner on Friday, so please leave a comment by Thursday the 26th of June 2014 at midnight to be considered.

I wanted to share a few of the vignettes that weren't shown in the pictures of the special issue

The first is from the vintage kitchen display rack that I found at a flea market.
I used the very cool little clips from my Clip it Up and hung my most often used alphabets. They are handy, organized in a way that makes them easy to use and look cute too!

The second are the crates that were spray painted in black first and then masked off at different angles and hit with a blast of a rich metallic gold. They look cool, and by looking at the different angles I can tell what is in each one of them at a glance. An interesting detail from this shot is the cute wire basket that I hit with the same spray paint. It used to be kind of a funky green color, but with the paint it plays perfectly with the other elements in the room.

Here is the entire list of the blog participants. If you arrived here for some other reason, please be sure to visit these other talented contributors!

Jen Gallacher <-- You arrived from here!
Becky Olsen <-- You are here!
Stephenie Hamen <-- You are heading here next!

The third cool little detail that is shown in the article, but is worth explaining is the burlap display strip that is running down the side of a book case. I cut a long strip of burlap, staple gunned it to the top of the case. Then I tied bows to some more of those cool Clip it Up clamps and hung a bunch of my favorite cards and projects. It is great not only for inspiration, but a quick way to grab a card when I am in a hurry, I keep a few different types of occasions on display  :)

As you can tell, my space is definitely not high design with a big price tag. What it is, is a reflection of where I love to create and be inspired. I don't have a lot of time or money to spend on making it glamorous, but it is a space that I feel comfortable in, can walk into and get busy creating without a lot of fuss or mess. I really want to encourage you to embrace your space, no matter your circumstances!

I hate to see you go since you just got here, but make sure to stop by Stephanie Hamen's blog next, she is incredibly talented and has a beautiful space!

Thanks and Happy Crafting!

Another Sneak Peek of My Creative Space

I love how the vintage lace looks stashed in this antique cast iron pan.

I found it at the Vintage Whites Market this spring,
and knew the second I saw it, it needed to come home with me.

I was so inspired by the color, weight and shape of it, I couldn't wait to get it into my creative space!

This little vignette isn't one that was shared in the magazine.

Celebrating the 2014 Summer Solstice

Went on a spectacular hike this morning with my great friend Keri Oaks.
We went up the Mill D North trail, and then followed a seldom used ridge trail that took us up to a summit between the Millcreek Canyon and Big Cottonwood Canyon. So we had 360 degree views for miles.
It was the perfect way to start the summer, and I can't wait to get out and exploring more trails.

Embracing Change

Change.

It is constant, and the one thing that we can count on is that it will be different.
This isn't a bad thing or a good thing it just is what it is.

Most days I like change.

But there are a few days that I don't. It isn't because I don't mind learning, growing, being challenged or having my life turned upside down.

On those days that I don't like it, it is because my capacity to see the good in all of my circumstances has been pushed to the point of almost breaking.

I have learned that I won't break.
But sometimes the hurt and disappointment are overwhelming.
And then I remember that Heavenly Father watches over all of us, and I am okay.

I have learned that all of the life dynamics I have experienced have made me more resilient than I ever could have imagined to be possible.
Stronger than I often want to be.
More compassionate.
More interested.
More distracted by beauty.
More desirous of grace.

Embracing change allows me to look at others with love and compassion instead of judging or envy.

And I like that reflection.
